TheraPutty® is a stretchy, silicon-based exercise material used by physical and occupational therapists for hand therapy. It is widely used for rehabilitative purposes after an accident or stroke. Grip strength, finger strength, and fine motor skills can all be improved by the use of hand putty. There are different types of TheraPutty® to suit different needs, whether you want to add heat, sensory or aroma therapy to your hand exercises.

Patients of all ages and abilities can use putty to improve their overall hand strength. With so many great hand putty products available, it can be hard to choose. Here’s a hand putty comparison guide to help you choose the best putty for you.

TheraPutty® Standard

The standard TheraPutty® that therapists know and love comes in 6 colors, each representing a different resistance level. TheraPutty® is safe to use on sensitive skin due to its gluten-free, latex-free, nut-free formula.

Traditional TheraPutty® is a great option for large practices considering it has a wide variety of sizes, being packaged in up to 50 lb containers. Its small containers are ideal for patients to use at home as they are easy-to-open.

TheraPutty® Anti-microbial

When looking for a hand putty to be used within a practice by many different patients, the TheraPutty® Anti-microbial formula works well. TheraPutty® Anti-microbial is safe to be used by multiple patients without worrying about the transfer of germs.

This putty is a good option for a patient looking to do their hand therapy on-the-go. Your patient would be able to comfortably use the anti-microbial formula during their commute to work or while standing in line without germs getting trapped in their putty.

TheraPutty® Sparkle Putty

If you’re looking for added sensory stimulation for patients doing hand therapy, TheraPutty® Sparkle putty is a great choice. The glitter formula will keep your patients engaged and visually stimulated. The two color / resistance options for Sparkle putty will simplify your beginners’ hand exercise routine.

TheraPutty® Scented Putty

Similar to the Sparkle putty, the TheraPutty® scented formula is a fun way to add more sensory stimulation to a hand therapy routine. The scents keep patients entertained and focused, making hand therapy feel like a game rather than work. This putty comes in vanilla, banana, cherry, and apple scents.

TheraPutty® Microwaveable Putty

TheraPutty® Microwaveable Putty can be safely heated up to engage patients in heat therapy. The heat of the putty helps with hand stiffness and tired muscles while improving circulation. The Microwaveable putty is great for arthritic patients looking for added comfort while doing their hand exercises. For best results, use in congruence with Standard TheraPutty®.

Puff® LiTE® Exercise Putty

Puff® LiTE® putty is best for patients whose grasp is especially weak and whom may experience fatigue holding a heavier putty for a long time. The formula weighs less than traditional TheraPutty®, making it easier to use for longer periods of time. This putty is less dense and has a more airy, velvety feeling, putting less strain on hand joints.

Each type of TheraPutty® can suit the needs of different patients. With so many great options available for your putty exercises, there is no going wrong when choosing between the different types of TheraPutty® products. Get started with your hand therapy exercises today!

If you’re new to the world of the Theraputty, it’s a lot like stretchy, rubber dish soap that fits over your hands and is used to reduce the pain of arthritis. It is a natural alternative to prescription medication, and there are many anecdotal stories of how it’s made, how it’s used, and how it’s helped people to cope with painful arthritis.

The way Theraputty is made is very easy: you will need a thin piece of paper, a large piece of tape, and a marker to draw on the paper. The steps will be explained step by step.
